Charles Dimmler is a business co-founder and a principal investor in Ceramedix, Inc. He serves as the Executive Chairman of the company. A former venture capitalist, operating executive, and life sciences entrepreneur and investor, Mr. Dimmler has led the company’s business strategy development and execution since its formation.
For more than three decades Mr. Dimmler has been engaged actively in life sciences entrepreneurship. Prior to co-founding Ceramedix, Inc. he was an early investor in the boutique investment banking firm, Torreya Partners, in which he served as Vice Chairman and where he led the establishment of the firm’s presence among the Japanese pharmaceutical industry. Prior to Torreya, Mr. Dimmler held senior executive and board positions leading asset restructuring programs involving two early-stage biopharmaceutical companies: Ore Pharmaceuticals, Inc., (formerly Gene Logic, Inc.), and Nobex Corporation.
For several years Mr. Dimmler served H. Lundbeck A/S as Chief Investment Officer; as well as Chief Executive Officer of Lundbeck Inc., the company’s US subsidiary. Mr. Dimmler was instrumental in the formation of Lundbeck, Inc. following the formation of the strategic partnership with Forest Laboratories. Mr. Dimmler was instrumental in the subsequent acquisition by Lundbeck of Synaptic Pharmaceuticals which enabled the establishing of its original US base of research operations.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Dimmler was a general partner at Hambro International Equity Partners (Hambro Group Investments, London) and a co-founder of Cross Atlantic Partners managing venture capital provided by Scandinavian investors; subsequently invested in early-stage biotechnology and medical device companies.
Mr. Dimmler has served on several boards of directors, chairing audit and compensation committees for several of them. He is a former national chairman of the board of trustees of The Huntington’s Disease Society of America. Prior to his business career, he served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He earned his undergraduate degree in history at the University of California, Davis, and has attended the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at The Harvard Business School.
